Summer is so close I can smell it

Had a rather lovely weekend for a change. Saturday bright and early I mowed the lawn and put weed and feed on to keep dandelions in check more than to promote a green carpet. A BBQ'd steak was on the agenda for lunch and when I opened the BBQ for the first time since last fall....well, yuck doesn't quite describe it so I cleaned it out and fired it up to burn off all the mold (shudder) that was on the sides. It is a ceramic BBQ so it doesn't get treated the same as a metal grill. Anyhoo, I let that get good and HOT and after it had cooled down I fired it up again and made steaks. YUM!! My DH and I then went to Skookum Brewery in Arlington to meet my brother and figure out a place to meet our Oregon relatives for brunch, lunch, whatever. The brewery is on the guys property surrounded by pasture and horses. Very cool and a good brew meister. We then pushed on and put some of the last of the stuff we had been storing in the basement into the attic. Nice. Walk-around room in the basement now.

In the process of moving things around we have been getting rid of stuff. Goodwill is making a killing on us. Seriously, if I haven't used it in a couple of years get rid of it. I'm trying to be even more merciless than usual about that.

Sunday we met the aforementioned relatives at the Tulalip casino for brunch. Boy was it nice to see them. Had a very pleasant time. They all looked good and really enjoyed catching up with them. After that DH and I headed to Shawn's place on Hermosa beach and checked it out. DH also installed the water line for the ice maker on the fridge there.

We had purchased that little accessory some time ago but finally did it. We sat on the deck and watched eagles and birds for a while then came home. We got a to-do list going and next weekend will probably spend it at his house getting basic upkeep done. I really need to weed there, and he didn't have a weed eater so I'm going to bring ours and tackle the little postage stamp of grass that he's got. I expect someday for Shawn's parents to tire of keeping the place as a shrine to Shawn but until that time we do what we can to help them keep it in good shape. There's a BBQ planned for the 4th of July there for all Shawn's old friends. We'll go I imagine.

The weekend is almost over and I wish it could last a bit longer. Not ready to get back to the grind stone yet. Ah well. Until that lotto comes through I guess that's where I'm at.
